  1. Does KIT provide 1:1 aides?
No, KIT does not provide 1:1 aides.  KIT provides child-specific consultation and support to programs so that they can determine the level of support needed to include each individual child.  Not all children require 1:1 support, but all children benefit from increasing staff-to-child ratios.

  2. Does KIT offer its own programs?
No, KIT works with existing community programs to provide training and technical assistance so that children with disabilities can participate in typical programs with their siblings and neighborhood peers.

  3. What types of programs does KIT work with?
IT works with recreational, child development and youth development programs that include children with and without disabilities.  Examples include preschool and daycare programs, school-age child care and after-school programs, YMCAs and Boys & Girls Clubs, recreation and summer camp programs, and theatre and dance programs.

  4. How do I become a KIT Affiliate?
KIT Affiliates are selected through a bi-annual RFP process.  Only organizations within San Diego County are eligible, and RFP submission periods are September 1st-September 15th and January 1st-January 15th.  Download the RFP.

  5. What does KIT offer to non-affiliate programs?
All levels of professionals working with children in out-of-school time programs are welcome to attend KIT community trainings free of charge.  Organizations can also engage KIT to come to their site for training and/or technical assistance through fee-for-service contracts.  KIT also holds a National Conference on Inclusion that is open to professionals all over the country.
