Children regardless of ability have a right to attend any program that falls under the guidelines of “public accommodations” as stated in Title II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. There are programs in San Diego County that have embraced the philosophy of inclusion and inclusive environments that appreciate diversity.
If you are interested in including your child in a program in your community please encourage the organization to contact KIT for support and resources.
KIT’s role is to provide training and technical assistance to organizations, and while we encourage partnerships between parents and programs we do not offer direct support to families. Parents can contact the Exceptional Family Resource Center (www.efrconline.org) in San Diego for resources specific to parents needs.
